State Education Commissioner Leaving The Job 

Susan Gendron says she’ll leave at the end of this month to take a job with a 35-state education consortium.During her tenure, Gendron expanded the state’s student laptop computer program, oversaw the implementation of Maine’s New School Consolidation Law and introduced new assessment tests.She will work from Maine as the policy director an education reform group that’s aiming to compete for a share of 350-million dollars in federal education reform funds.Governor Baldacci has named Deputy Commissioner Angela Faherty to become Acting Commissioner.
