Internet Problems Earlier This Morning Fixed 

For several hours today, thousands of FairPoint Communications customers lost their internet service after Central Maine Power equipment overheated FairPoint’s high-speed data lines. Despite the multitude of customers losing internet, there were no phone interruptions. CMP explained the problems were caused when some of its equipment overheated, melted and tumbled from a utility pole onto FairPoint’s fiber-optic cables in Portland.North Carolina-based FairPoint has had numerous operational problems since buying Verizon Communications’ land line and Internet operations in northern New England in 2008.
