Rangers On The Lookout For “Mudding” 

Maine Forest Rangers say they’ll be on thelookout in the coming weeks for people damaging maine’s backunpaved roads by going “mudding” in their four-wheel-drivevehicles. The Maine Forest Service says property owners every springsuffer road damages from people who seek out wet muddy forest andfarm roads where they can slip, slide and spin their pickup trucksand other vehicles in the mud.Officials say it can take just a few minutes for vehicles tocause thousands of dollars of damages while also harming fishhabitat at stream crossings.Forest rangers will be on patrol in the weeks ahead looking forpeople damaging the roads. they say they’re in touch withlandowners who have had problems in the past in an effort toidentify trouble spots.
