Folks got together in Ellsworth this evening to discuss military deployment and what it’s like when troops come home. Representatives from the Maine Military and Community Network were there along with members of the community who had experienced being overseas and the transition back home. They discussed some of the hardships military men and women face when they return. Chaplin Andy Gibson, who is director of deployment cycle support, says many men and women may not know about the services that are offered to help those returning. To get the word out they’ve created the Maine Military Community Network. “It is a way for local communities to get a little bit more knowledge about the military, about what services are available through things like the Maine veterans services, through vet service organizations and through the veterans administration.” says Gibson. To get more information about the Maine Military and Community Network you can visit their website at www.MaineMCN.org.
