It’s been nearly four months since a devastating earthquake struck in Haiti and people around Eastern Maine are still doing their part to help the victims. The folks at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor put on an Easter brunch today with all the proceeds going directly to the Red Cross Haiti relief fund. The fundraising event lasted from 11:00-2:00.People of all ages enjoyed the buffet that featured breakfast items like eggs and quiche and dinner items such as prime rib. The guests who attended said the chance to avoid cooking and doing dishes was a motivating factor but they were all happy the money went to such a good cause.”I know people are still hurting over there so it’s kind of neat for us, this far away, to help wherever we can,” says Carlota Verge an Events Manager at Spectacular Events, “it’s nice for everyone to get out and not have to cook. I already had a some of the guests say they were glad they didn’t have to do dishes as well as let us do the work.”Tickets cost $25 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. Children five and under got in free. All the proceeds collected went to the Red Cross Haiti relief fund.
