Maine sophomore Gustav Nyquist has received a lot of awards this past season. None would be bigger if he could take home college hockeys biggest award, the Hobey Baker Award.Yesterday Nyquist along with New Hampshire’s Bobby Butler and Blake Geoffrion of Wisconsin were named the three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award. All three players are forwards. Nyquist was the nation’s leading scorer this season with 61 points. Butler was the nation’s top goal scorer, with 27. Geoffrion was number 2 in goals scored with 26. The winner will be announced April 9th at the Frozen Four College Hockey Championships in Detroit.Maine has had two Hobey Baker winners, Scott Pellerin and Paul Kariya. Nyquist said today that he plans on being back with Maine next year as the team has some unfinished business.
