Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness

Updated 5 years ago

March is Traumatic Brain Injury awareness month. It’s an issue that affects about 1.4 million people each year, and it’s estimated that many more suffer brain injuries that are never diagnosed. The McTague Family of Newport knows just how costly a brain injury can be. Winston McTague was severely injured after a motorcycle accident in Newport in June 2007. Nearly three years later, he still struggles. He has no sense of direction, he has short term memory problems, and the simplest tasks are now difficult.Winston’s wife, Kelley, now serves on a state board advocating for people with brain injury. If you’d like more information about Traumatic Brain injury log onto The Brain Injury Information Network of Maine at www.biin.org.
