Governor Signs Salt Water Fishing Registry into Law 

A four year debate of salt water fishing licenses ended on Monday when Governor Baldacci signed a bill into law that creates a saltwater recreational fishing registry.The law will go into effect on January 1st of 2011.In this new bill the registry is free once you purchase a freshwater fishing license.Striped Bass endorsements will cost $5 for residents who do not have freshwater licenses, and $15 for all nonresidents.Fees for commercial operator’s licenses, including charters and smelt camps, are $50.The bill is expected to generate $1,700,000 for the state.
