Youths Learn About Horses at the Penobscot Pony Club

Kids as young as six all the way up to age 18 were ready to test their skills by the Penobscot Pony Club.Riders met in Hampden at the Reeds Brook Middle School for a quiz rally to test their pony knowledge.Organizers say while many kids have the skills to ride they don’t always know all that goes into taking care of a horse. “For young kids that are going to ride they need to known how to take care of a pony they need to know what’s involved in taking care of a pony and to be involved,” Said Beth Sypher, the District Commissioner. Some of the horse management skills the kids were tested on included veternary care, anatomy of the horse, and general feeding.
