UMaine and Tim Whitehead Working on Contract Extension

After missing the NCAA tournament in back to back seasons, some were wondering if the Maine hockey team was heading in the right direction. But after reaching the Hockey East Championship game, it looks as if Maine is back on track. Now, the university is working on a contract extension for head coach Tim Whitehead.He has one more year remaining on a five year contract. UMaine Athletic Director Blake James says that the sides are now working on extending the contract.Whitehead, who took over for the legendary Shawn Walsh, just finished his ninth year at the helm. He has led Maine to six NCAA tournaments, four Frozen Fours and two National Championship games. His next win will be his 200th at Maine.
