Students Cross the Border to End Hunger

The problem of hunger knows no boundaries. So students in Maine and Canada are working together to help those in need. Friday’s Food drive, called “Borderless Giving,” is sending college students from both sides of the border, door-to-door. Students from the New Brunswick Community College and St. Stephen’s University are teaming up with students from Washington County Community College in Calais to collect food and money. It’ll go to local food banks and domestic violence transition houses. It’s the first collaboration between these schools. There are also designated drop-off sites. In Calais you can take the food to the Eastern Maine Electric Co-op, WQDY/WCRQ Radio Station, Bell’s IGA and Washington County Community College.
