Plans to Save Central Hall in Dover-Foxcroft Make Progress

A plan to save Central Hall in Dover-Foxcroft is moving ahead. Town selectmen gave their support this week to a plan by the group The Friends of Central Hall to revitalize the 130-year-old building. The group, working with the local historical society, would like to restore the upstairs and use it an event center. They’d also like to turn the lower half of the building into space for up-start businesses. Mary Annis, who’s helping with the project, says the selectmen’s go-ahead means the Friends of Central Hall can start collecting on 29-thousand dollars in pledges and apply for grant money. Annis says it could cost up a half-million dollars or more to update the building.
