New Bangor Post Office Latest

Plans for a new post office in Bangor are moving forward. On Wednesday the postal service went before the city’s planning board.Last month the board denied plans to open a new post office in the former district court building in downtown Bangor, citing concerns about parking and pedestrian safety. Those concerns were addressed and the plans were reconfigured to satisfy the board on Wednesday. “Under the site plan review criteria they looked to traffic circulation and parking safety,” Said Eaton Peabody attorney Andrew Hamilton. “I think those were important questions to address and I think the applicants engaged the process nicely and found ways to overcome questions and concerns.”The planning board voted to approve the proposal. The lease for the current post office in the federal building on Harlow Street runs out at the end of May.
