Inter-Tribal Pow Wow

People of all races and nations were celebrated at the North Country inter tribal Pow Wow on Saturday. The group hosted their first end of winter gathering at the Sebasticook Valley Community Center in Newport. The community center donated the space. The gathering was dedicated to all of the family and friends that have passed in 2009 and 2010.The VFW and American Legion were also present to represent the U.S. armed forces and the fallen heroes.Organizers say it was a way to celebrate all people, the freedom that we share as Americans, and was also a way for people to learn about native culture. “It’s very important without people, some give their all some give some, we know that we can be free and do the things that we like to do at the pow wow. So we always remember our veterans and the families and celibate what we like to celebrate,” Said event organizer Edward Littlefield.Almost 100 people showed up for the event.Littlefield says he was very happy with the turnout.
