HoltraChem Meeting in Orrington 

There’s a meeting in Orrington tonight on contaminated land left behind at the HoltraChem plant that closed ten years ago.Through the years thousands of tons of chemicals have seeped into the ground there.The Saint Louis-based company Mallinckrodt owned the plant when it closed.That company has spent around 40-million dollars for clean up, and says it’s ready to finish the job – a task that the company says would take about a hundred million more dollars and five years to complete.The state is pushing for even more: a clean up expected to cost up to 250-million dollars.Mallinckrodt officials say the state’s plan would take up to twelve years to complete.Company officials are holding a town meeting to discuss the plans with folks in Orrington. The meeting is at the center drive school at 7:00pm.
