Gov. John Baldacci signed a bill on Tuesday to make it much easier for liquor stores, wine shops, and boutique breweries to hold taste-testing events. This in effect will help to draw in more customers and boost sales. Before this bill was signed, wine retailers holding wine-tasting events were required to cover their windows. The change also meant no more wine-tastings in supermarkets.Rep. Stacey Fitts of Pittsfield sponsored the bill that eases some regulations and doubles the number of events a licensee may conduct to 24 per year.
