The Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Makes Donation

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars have presented a generous donation in honor of the late Frances Booth. In Bar Harbor officials presented the Roscoe B. Jackson Memorial Laboratory with a donation of $25 thousand dollars. According to Joyce Peterson of The Jackson Laboratory, in the past six decades the LAVFW has donated more than $1,000,000 to The Jackson Laboratory, the largest commitment from any service organization. That includes three buildings, countless pieces of research equipment, and funds for young investigators are among the initiatives they have funded through their Cancer Aid & Research Program says Peterson. The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution based in Bar Harbor. Officials there say their mission is to discover the genetic basis for preventing, treating and curing human diseases, and to enable research and education for the global biomedical community.
