Fatal Accident in Searsport Update 

Police are investigating a five-car crash in Searsport that killed one person and sent three others to the hospital. The wreck on Route 1 also shut down the road for close to five hours.Searsport Police Chief Dick Lahaye tells TV-5 it appears a car was coming out into the intersection of Spruce Knoll Lane a little before 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.That’s when it collided with another vehicle, driven by 53-year old Thomas Marsden of Scarborough. That collision set off a chain reaction crash involving five vehicles.Marsden died at a local hospital.Three others involved in the crash were taken to area hospitals.69-year-old Richard Pelczar and his wife 63-year-old Lois Pelczar were transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center and are listed in critical condition.
