Looks like there could be a buyer for a shuttered church in Orono. A sale pending sign is now up outside the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church on Main Street. Staffers at realtor Pauline Rock’s office with ERA Dawson-Bradford tell TV5 they can’t say who the potential buyer is or even when the sale is scheduled to go through. The church closed a little more than a year ago. The Catholic Diocese of Maine based the decision on a dwindling parish and mount repair bills. The cost to fix the more than century old building was estimated to be about $1 million. When the church closed, parishioners merged with Catholic Churches in Old Town, Orono, Indian Island and Bradley, to form one large parish.
