There’s a verdict in the trial of a Bangor man accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.David Archer is charged with attempted murder.David Archer was accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend in April 2008.After deliberating for nearly 2 1/2 hours this afternoon, the jury found him guilty of attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and aggravated assault.Earlier today, Archer took the stand testifying he was at his mother’s house the day of the incident and he had a knife with him and did say if he saw his ex-girlfriend with another man he would kill them. But Archer said on the stand he did not say that as a threat. And that it was not in a hateful way or like he really planned to do it.We spoke to Archer after the verdict.” I think the verdict was wrong. I think the jury made a huge mistake. I was blacked out. I did not know what I did and I felt extremely sorry for what happened.””I’m pleased but it’s not over yet. We still have a ways to go with this case.”Archer has pleaded not criminally responsible by reason of insanity. The jury will be called back tomorrow to decide on that.
