President Gives High Marks to Two Maine Teachers

Two Maine teachers are getting high marks from President Obama – receiving national honors for their work in math and science education. They were honored at the White House yesterday with Presidential Awards for Excellence. Pamela Thompson is a third and fourth grade teacher from Madison Elementary School. She’s been working with kids there since 1982 and has helped the school district pick up some important science grants.Kimberly Spencer is a second and third grade teacher at Yarmouth Elementary School. She started teaching there in 1999. As part of the awards ceremony, the President also announced a plan to invest more than 250-million dollars to train thousands of new math and science teachers in the next 5 years.
