In only a few hours folks will be filling the streets of downtown Bangor waiting to see the ball drop.But there are plenty of festivities taking place before midnight.The Bangor Public Library is one stop, with a variety of events.From a magician to dance lessons and a costume party.”We get lots and lots of people. People love to come to the library and do something different.”There will be prizes too.Library Director Barbara McDade says you won’t want to miss it.”It’s fun, it’s so much fun. The magician is fun, the planetarium is fun. The band is going to be good.”If you want something festive to wear, you can make a crown at the University of Maine Museum of Art.They have all sorts of sparkling supplies to deck it out.If you want to spend the night playing poker or cribbage, the Hammond Street Senior Center is the place to be.” Many of our members are making homemade goodies, chicken wings. I think one of our members even made ice cream. So if people want to come and have some munchies they’re by donation only.”The center is open to the public.The Step in Time cloggers will be there doing what they do best.”Which is a really great dance group that’s going to be performing several sets throughout the night from 6 to 9.”With all that downtown Bangor is offering this new years.Folks are sure to have plenty of fun as they ring in a new decade.
