Weekend Rain Causes Traffic Havoc Monday

Sunday’s rain combined with dropping temperatures overnight has authorities urging caution to drivers on Maine’s roadways Monday morning.Police are warning motorists to slow down and drive with caution. They say conditions can be especially dangerous in heavy volumes of traffic and during changing road conditions. “With the changing weather make sure you allow yourself enough time to get to where you’re going,” Said State Trooper Daren Vittum. “It may take another hour or so to get to where you’re going, watch the signs on the interstate that are flashing and say 45 there’s a reason why they’re flashing.”We’re told crews have been called out in a number of towns to sand the roads.Police say if you are in an accident in these conditions, it’s best to stay in your vehicle…keep your headlights on…and always carry a cell phone.
