Students Care About Their Seniors

Students from the Tremont Consolidated School are delivering salt and sand to local seniors. It’s one of the service projects in SCARF, or Students Care About Their Friends. Crystal Dow the school’s Librarian says the 4th and 5th graders want to give back. She says, “We had talked with them in the fall about the senior citizens, and what they give back.” She asked them what they thought might be a problem from seniors? The kids took it from there. After locating seniors in need and setting up several sign-up locations, the students began collecting salt and sand donated from local businesses. Printed on the side of the 200 donated buckets is the message “Be careful, we care.”
