Santa and his elves visited Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor Friday.Bringing the magic of the holidays to children on the pediatric floor.Meghan Hayward has the story.Christmas came early for children on the pediatrics floor at Eastern Maine Medical Center.”A drum set, a drum set, woooh.”Rite Aid employees from the greater Bangor area visited the children and brought presents and Santa along too.”I think the kids are really going to enjoy him. We’ve got some great presents. Hopefully when we leave here today, we’ve lifted some spirits and they have a great day.”The holiday visit is part of Rite Aid’s ongoing commitment to the Children’s Miracle Network. EMMC staff say the event means a lot to the children and their families.”They’re just thrilled. They’re beside themselves. They don’t expect it. It’s always a nice surprise. They don’t expect to be in the hospital and see Santa and get gifts. They’re excited, shocked and just very pleased.”Santa thinks he’s pretty lucky to have this job.”The kids and the joy of it all. And the charm.”Nine-year-old Trevor got a toy puppy, but he also wanted to make sure his twin brother would have a present too.” Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas.””It just jazzes them up for the whole day. They’re more energized. It really lends itself to their healing process. It gets them excited, they are happy. And just their attitude is a big part of how they heal so things like this help them tremendously.”
