It was a wicked good tree. A tree that would be wicked good at catching lobster. This is the 5th year the lobster trap tree has been set up in Rockland. It’s been called the world’s largest trap tree by the tree’s organizers. This year’s tree is made of 152 traps. It’s decorated with buoys from community fishermen. Event organizer Lorraine Francis says the tree grew very organically. “The first year that we put of the tree up and all of the sudden the buoys started appearing on it and it sort of self decorated itself and so now we save them year to year and put them up.”Francis says the tree has become the center of the community celebration. After the celebration the community raffles off the traps as a fundraiser.
