Manna Ministries Having Thanksgiving Day Dinner

Even with the downturn in the economy the folks at Manna Ministries in Bangor are confident they’ll hit their goal of 6000 turkeys this Thanksgiving season. Nearly 1800 turkeys were donated during WABI’s Turkey Telethon on Friday.Sunday a group of kids from the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bangor dropped by to donate some food for needy families. The folks at Manna are organizing a Thanksgiving day dinner this Thursday at the Baptist Church on Columbia in Bangor. Manna’s Executive Director Bill Rae says they’re just about set for the big feast but there is one thing they’re a little short on. “But here’s what we need. A lot of you guys out there who are bakers, we need pies for Thanksgiving Day,” says Rae, “not the ooey-gooey kind that are going to fall apart, cherry pie, that’s my favorite, or apple or pumpkin, traditional pies. Please bring them to Manna on Wednesday or right down to Columbia Street on Thursday.” Anyone who wants to volunteer to help serve Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday is being asked to just show up at the Baptist Church on Columbia Street in Bangor around 10:00.
