Deer Hunt Opens 

Deer hunting season kicked off in Maine on Saturday.But officials are predicting this fall’s deer kill to be the smallest in at least 25 years.It’s projected to come in at fewer than 20,000 deer.Officials with the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife say the deer herd has thinned following two straight winters with deep snow packs and cold temperatures.The state has issued more than 45,000 permits this year.The season runs through November 28th.
