From the Associated Press: The state of Maine is going to get almost $96 million to modernize the state’s electrical grid. Maine’s congressional delegation says the administration ofPresident Barack Obama is allocating the money to Maine as part ofa $3.4 billion national investment in Smart Grid technology. The money will be used to expand the use of smart-gridtechnology to all residential, commercial and industrial customersof Central Maine Power, about 650,000 meters. The system will enable in-home displays and digitally controlledappliances. It will also enable secure control systems forsubstations and generation facilities, and automate distributionand transmission grids.
