Minor League Ballpark Comes Back

After a decade, a former Minor League baseball park is coming back from rest in Old Orchard Beach. The Ballpark was built in the early 1980s for the Maine GuidesTriple-A baseball team. The team left after three seasons and the ballpark was later used for concerts.A local economic development group is hosting an event at The Ballpark on Sunday called Woofstock. The events runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a costume contest, dog parade, a rabies clinic, pet supply vendors and other dog-oriented attractions.Volunteers in recent months have been installing a new grass field, repairing the fire-damaged grandstand and cleaning up the rest of the place. Supporters are planning for more events in the spring of 2010.
