License Plates to Support Troops In Jeopardy

Showing suport for U.S. troops on Maine license plates are at risk of being withdrawn due to their lack of popularity. State laws says that after the year 2007, if the number specialty plates sold falls below 4,000 for more then a year, then that plate will be retired. Mattew Dunlap, Secretary of State says, the “We Support Our Troops” never met the cusp of 4,000 since they were introduced two years ago. At the moment, there are only 3,600 on the streets. Proceeds from sales go to help families of military personnel serving overseas. Rep. Don Pilon of Saco, is urging motorists to buy the plates to keep them on the road.
