Keith’s Korner: Skeet Shooting for Charity

Taking aim at clay targets and raising money for Special Olympics, that’s what some sixty people were shooting for in Hermon last weekend.”Oh, we are having a lot of fun.””You can do it Louie! All right, dead pair. All right, we are out of here.”Great people to shoot with, difficult. Some stations are really really hard, others are pretty straight forward. There were fourteen different stages and about 60 hunters anteed up extra cash for the Special Olympics.”I talked with someone in Bangor and they said ‘Why the Special Olympics?’ and I said I don’t know, but I wanted to do it and took it on.”On top of busting all these sporting clays for charity, a lot of these guys see it as a precursor to bird season.”It’s a good warm up to get back into the swing of things. It’s fast like bird hunting is. The only difference is you don’t have a dog.”Practice does make perfect, but today’s windy conditions giving the shooters all they can handle. The birds are everywhere, you never know where they are going to be.Kind of like a golf tournament, every stage is like a different hole.Shooting sporting clays for a good cause always a bullseye.
