Lobstermen Can Return to Seal Island

Lobstermen can get back to work in waters off Seal Island. The Coast Guard had recently banned lobstering there after an old bomb was found. The Navy used the island for target practice up until about fifty years ago.Congresswoman Chellie Pingree says the Coast Guard has rescinded the ban because the risk is unknown and the economic impact on fishermen is greater than first thought.Seal Island is located 20 miles off the Maine coast and is fished by more than 30 lobstermen from nearby Vinalhaven.
