On Wednesday Governor Baldacci signed the bill that would legalize gay marriages in the state of Maine. Voters could still overturn the law in a referendum.Wednesday morning, the Maine State Senate voted 21-13 in favor of legalizing same sex marriages. Late afternoon Wednesday New Hampshire lawmakers passed a bill to allow gay marriage. There are four states that currently allow same-sex marriages. Connecticut, Massachusetts and Iowa have been ordered by the courts to do so, and Connecticut has enacted a law codifying a court ruling.
