UMaine Volleyball & Men’s Soccer Cut

TV5 has learned that two sports teams have been suspended at the University of Maine, the school will be cutting it’s volleyball and men’s soccer program.The cuts are part of its response to budget issues. The university is cutting $8.8 million for the next fiscal year.The suspension of the two programs will result in saving $600,000 in the first year and $900,000 in the following year.UMaine said it will honor its scholarship commitments to the 12 volleyball players, and the 7½ scholarships to soccer players who wish to continue to work toward a degree.
