Waterville looks for Title

WESTERN MAINE HAS DOMINATED CLASS ‘A’ HOCKEY. SINCE CHAMPIONS WERE FIRST CROWNED IN 1927. NO TEAM NORTH OF LEWISTON, OTHER THAN WATERVILLE, HAS WON THE STATE LARGE SCHOOL TITLE. THE PANTHERS LAST WON THE STATES IN 2001…. THEY’LL HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN ANOTHER THIS WEEKEND.We understand that we’ve won alot of championships I think its 19, so to represent Waterville in the title game is great.Last night Waterville shut out Lewiston 3-0…. Ian Rowe scored twice for the Panthers including the first goal.Once we get one goal thats when we really start to play. It just breaks the ice and once we got that first one there is no looking back. Its been a great run… especially with Shawn Lee out the last two games with a seperated shoulder…. he’s one of 8 semifinalists for the states Travis Roy award. If there is any way I can help the team besides playing I will do that. This group of seniors has inched a bit further in the playoffs each year. We’ve been on really good teams for all four years and this year our team is shaping up looks like we can finish it off this year. Those seniors sat down together before the season. We came up with even goals and we’ve accomplished 6 of them and the state game is the 7th to win that. And it would be the first hockey championship for this group since they won the state title as 11 and 12 year olds.Yeah, I was a squirt then and I remember that I couldn’t wait to get to high school and have the chance to play in the state game and I had a feeling that we’d get there eventually.THE CLASS ‘A’ CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST ST. DOMS WILL BE AT 6:00 SATURDAY NIGHT IN LEWISTON.
