Deering Coach Gets Jail Time

A former assistant baseball coach at Deering High School has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for furnishing students with beer and a place to drink after his team won the state baseball championship last spring.Frank Watson pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors and was sentenced Monday in Cumberland County Superior Court. The 49-year-old Watson, who begins his jail term Tuesday, also was fined $1,000 and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.His wife, Kimberly Watson, pleaded guilty to one count of furnishing a place for minors to consume liquor and was sentenced to three days in jail. Justice Robert Crowley said she will not have to go to jail if she completes an alternative sentencing program next month.
