An early morning standoff on Simpson Road in Glenburn kept authorities on scene for eight hours.Authorities say the 911 call came in about 2 a-m and police had the suspect in custody around 10.Authorities have arrested 41-year-old Cecil Worster.State Police say when they arrived on scene a woman came running out of the Simpson Road home with no shoes on and she had just been assaulted.Police say when they approached Worster he ran into the house and barricaded himself in the residence.Officials say numerous weapons were in the home, including 4 rifles.State Police say Worster has a record of violent crimes.The Penobscot Sheriff’s Department Special Resources Team, along with the State Police Tactical Team, were called to the scene.State Police Patrol Sgt. Sean Hashey says “There was no damage done to the property once the tactical team surrounded the house we started negotiating. He never responded to us negotiating and eventually just came out of the hosue and basically stated that he didn’t realize we were there.”Authorities say Worster will be charged with domestic violence assault and hindering report of a crime. He will be held at Penobscot County Jail.The woman is said to be Worster’s girlfriend. Police say she did not suffer any serious injuries.
