For the second day in a row, Maine is
allowing people to fish for free on the state’s waterways.
Valentine’s weekend has been designated as Family Fishing Days.
It’s a promotion by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife
designed to encourage more people to try their hand at ice fishing.
The department says the event is open to anyone except those
whose license has been revoked or suspended. Commissioner Danny
Martin says it’s the perfect opportunity for adults to introduce
their children to fishing.
This weekend is the first of two free fishing weekends offered
this year. The second will be on May 30-31, the weekend after
