Lawmakers are debating whether or not smoking should be banned on public beaches and in parks.
The bill is similar to another that wants to ban smoking on beaches in state parks. It’s likely the two bills will merge.
Supporters are urging members on the Health and Human Services committee to amend the bill to expand its scope to include other places within state parks like snack bars, playgrounds and picnic areas.
Those that don’t support the bill are concerned about the cost to enforce the ban.
