Radio Host Saves Womans Life

Updated 6 years ago

On Thursday, a woman from Jonesport called &quot:The Howie Carr Show&quot: and said live on the air that her financial situation was so bad, she was considering suicide.

Host Howie Carr kept the woman on the line and tried to convince her against taking her own life. Even sharing the story ofhis own grandfathers suicide during the depression, andhow his family hasn’t been the same since.

While Carr was trying to talk the woman down, a Maine DEA agent who’d been listening to the show alerted the local police, who went to the woman’s home to make sure she was okay.

Today, the woman is alive and well, and local radio host Ric Tyler on Carr affiliate WVOM FM says the incident is a testament to the power of radio.

Howie Carr will be live on &quot:The George Hale and Ric Tyler Show&quot: Monday morning, talking about the incident.

The show airs mornings from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on the Voice of Maine, 103.9 FM.
