Proposed Wind Project Delayed

They voted Wednesday night in favor of a 180 day moratorium on industrial wind farms by an overwhelming count of 111 to 20.

The company Competitive Energy Services is considering a ridge in Dixmont as a potential site for turbines.

Many people at the meeting said they’re not against the idea of wind power but given all of the potential effects of such a project they say it is reasonable to wait, and let everyone have a chance to get their questions answered.

&quot:I’d like to know what’s in it for the town of dixmont.&quot: Said Dixmont Resident Scott Fish. &quot:I’d like to know a little bit more about the people putting up these windmills. The nearby town of Jackson, along with other Maine towns, have approved similar moratoriums to slow down such projects.
