The homeowner, Cliff Cullins, wasn’t at home at the time. It’s estimated that the fire broke out around 11:30 a.m.
By the time crews got to the scene, one side of the structure was engulfed in fire.
Firefighters say there is a lot of water and smoke damage, in addition to the extensive damage caused by the fire itself.
Crews from Frankfort and Hampden were called in to assist Winterport fire.
Firefighters think the fire was started either by a propane heater or an electrical panel. An investigator will be there Tuesday to pinpoint the cause.
