In October of 2001 Amy Saint Laurent vanished while visiting the Old Port section of Portland. It wasn’t until later that police discovered she had met Jeffrey Gorman. He admitted to shooting Amy in the head and dumping her body in Scarborough. One of the authors of Finding Amy, Kate Flora, dropped by the Bangor Public Library for a book signing. She and Portland police chief Joseph Loughlin teamed up to write a book about Amy’s death, and the investigation that followed. Libraries in Bangor, Old Town, Orono and Hampden are all taking part in a program called Penobscot Reads. Participants all read the same book at the same time, then get together to talk about it. Finding Amy is this years book. You can find a copy at the most local libraries and book stores.
