Ice Storm Repair Money on the Way

President Bush has signed a disaster

declaration that provides federal assistance to repair public

infrastructure in seven Maine counties that was damaged in last

month’s ice storm.

The announcement comes from Gov. John Baldacci, who sought the

declaration last week. The counties affected include Androscoggin,

Cumberland, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Waldo and Knox.

The approval means that the state and qualifying local

governments can be reimbursed by the Federel Emergency Management

Agency for 75 percent of the cost of repairing roads and other

public property damaged in the storm.
