Jim Harney of Bangor traveled the world, capturing the life of people in third-world countries: learning about their cultures and their struggles.
He visited Baghdad in 2003 to put a face to the war in Iraq.
Last summer, Harney launched a walk to Washington, D.C. to bring awareness to the plight of undocumented workers, or illegal immigrants, in the United States.
He made it as far as Rhode Island before his cancer forced him to end the walk.
Harney died on Friday, December 26th. He was 68 years old.
