Troops Stop in Bangor 

Friends and family of Maine Army National

Guard members returning from Iraq gathered this morning at

Bangor International Airport for a chance to spend a few hours with

their loved ones.

The 130 members of Charlie Company, 126th Aviation Regiment,

stopped briefly at the airport before continuing on to

Fort Carson, Colo., for out-processing before they head home to


Charlie Company, a medevac unit nicknamed the Black Bears, flew

more than 3,000 hours of rescue missions and evacuated more than

650 patients during its nine months in Iraq.

Guard spokesman Capt. Shanon Cotta said the date of the unit’s

return to Maine has not been released.
