Workers there are building huge components for the Motiva Port Arthur Oil Refinery in Texas.
Cianbro’s Peter Vigue says the company has been able to put more people to work in the Brewer plant than was initially anticipated.
The Motiva project involved a lot of overtime but that will be cut way back for now.
Vigue says less demand for oil caused Motiva to ask Cianbro to cut costs.
It means employees who were working 50 to 70 hours per week will be working closer to 40 hours.
He says there’s a silver lining. The project will be stretched out for an extra three to four months.
