Okie Trial Continues

John A. Okie’s younger sister testified Monday that Okie was first hospitalized for odd behavior in 2004 when he told her he believed he had to do cocaine to avoid getting cancer.

Okie is charged with killing 19-year-old Alexandra Mills in her family’s home in Wayne in July 2007. He’s also accused of fatally stabbing his father, John S. Okie, six days later during a heated argument at their home in Newcastle.

Okie’s attorney doesn’t dispute that Okie killed the two, but contends that he’s not criminally responsible because of schizophrenia and other mental health issues.
