Bangor Hydro Safety Officer John Greaves is urging everyone to give power crews the room they need to work safely.
Don’t approach crews while they’re working.
If you need help, call the Bangor Hydro Customer Service Center.
Also, Greaves says, don’t ever attempt to drive over a downed power line or attempt to move it. ":If you have downed power lines, just stay clear of them. Do not drive over them. Leave it up to the crews to deal with those situations. Best advice is if it’s involving wires, just go ahead and report it to Bangor Hydro and we’ll send crews out to address the situation.":
Bangor Fire Department Safety Officer Jason Johnson has one additional piece of advice.
If you lose power and decide to run a generator make sure you keep it outside.
If you bring a generator inside a home, even in a garage or basement, you run the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, which can be fatal.
